Congressional Scorecards

The Freedom Index rates congressmen based on their adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements. The scores are derived by dividing a congressman's constitutional votes (pluses) by the total number he cast (pluses and minuses) and multiplying by 100.  A "?"  means a Rep./Senator did not vote; a "P" means he voted "present."  We encourage readers to commend legislators for their constitutional votes and to urge improvement where needed.

Oath of office: Any individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath: "I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God." This does not affect other oaths required by law.

Your Senators and Representative can be determined by entering the ZIP Code with the ZIP+4 extension in the box below. The U.S. Postal Service provides a Zip+4 Lookup Service. Do not enter the ZIP+4 Code for a post office box.
